It’s Not Too Late to Make Lent Meaningful

In this busy world, time passes by quickly and before we know it, we are out of time –  out of time to spend with our loved ones; out of time to worship our awesome God.  Lent is one of the times that is put aside for us, specifically for prayer, fasting and alms giving. If your good intentions for Lent flew by with the time, it is not too late.  You may wish to use this prayer during the remaining days of Lent:

Earnest and Loving God, as we prepare for your glorious resurrection at Easter

we pray that where there is hurt or anger, let there be healing;

Where there is sin and division, let there be reconciliation.

Where there is selfishness, let there be generosity.

Help us to prepare for your coming in a way that is pleasing to You,  Your Father and the Holy Spirit;  For this we pray.  Amen.

Besides prayer, you can combine fasting and alms giving in the traditional but effective way of giving up something (a special coffee? a pizza? a chocolate bar? a concert ticket?) and donate the money you would have spent to the poor.  Just in case you are wondering  where that  money may be needed, how about donating it to the Casa Franciscana Mission to provide food boxes for the home bound elderly and disabled poor?  Whatever amount you decide will help.  There is still time to make Lent meaningful for you and someone in need
