Tara Prien

At-Large

Tara brings a rich background in education and program development to the Board of Directors. She committed the first 16 years of her career to education, starting as a Spanish and World Studies teacher and then earned her M.Ed. in Special Education (International) to broaden her impact to building and improving programs for students with learning differences and disabilities, with an emphasis on mathematics. Her work includes: The Ancona Montessori School and Mt. Carmel High School in Chicago; St. Gabriel's Catholic School, St. Francis School, and The Griffin School in Austin; and Bryant & Stratton College serving underprivileged, non-traditional students in Richmond, Virginia.

In 2020, she transitioned into tech designing training programs and enriching employee experiences in talent development for Meta and now Docusign. Her work includes expanding opportunities for underrepresented populations in tech both domestically and internationally. Tara also dedicates time each week to mentoring international university students who come from low socioeconomic backgrounds in career preparation skills.

Inspired by her first pilgrimage to Guaymas in October 2023 and all of the amazing work the mission is doing for children, Tara volunteered to build the new website and then joined the board to further dedicate her talents. Her passion for cross-cultural collaboration, rooted in her international studies and volunteer work over the years, fuels her commitment to expanding the organization’s engagement across generations and communities.
